That Answers That.
May. 16th, 2007 11:41 amOkay, so apparently the first Christmas special is on the 1998 season set for Red Green.
HOWEVER it's the CBC cut of the special, meaning that it's only a half hour long. The complete special was aired on PBS and runs an hour long.
You know, I was curious about the CBC cut, but this feels cheap. The hour-long special is out on a separate DVD, so it's like "Well, if you want ALL of the special, you're going to have to cough up another $25 to pick up another DVD!" Thank goodness this is the only special that has multiple versions.
The box art also looks like ass; they recycled the 1997 set art without changing the pictures. Which is stupid, because this was around the point in the series where Harold went through a massive change. It also has Ben Franklin who appeared in like... two, maybe three episodes tops throughout the whole length of the fandom? I don't even think he was in season eight!
Yeah, I realize that I should be grateful for Red Green DVD and I am. I've spent a good amount on Red Green DVDs over the past few years. I just want my money's worth! It's not the most expensive of the series I collect - I'm a MST3K fan and that's $60 for four episodes and this was only $35 for fourteen. It's a bit more than average, but with the average DVD there's at least some effort in the packaging.
