Jan. 2nd, 2007 07:28 pmHoly crap. I got the discs with the first season Prisoners of Gravity episodes today.
Again: holy crap! (!) (!!!)
It's so cheesy. I love PoG's cheesiness, but this is insane. The original set looks like the Satellite of Love from Mystery Science Theater 3000. No joke.
There's no Nan-Cy, but there's what could be considered a proto Nan-Cy. Actually, it COULD be Nance, given how they explain her in season two; that finally makes sense in my mind. No Enrico Gruen at all. Even odder, there's a lot of abuse of Video Toaster effects. That got removed from Prisoners of Gravity before season two, but I'm guessing someone liked the idea of it (if you catch my drift), because it later showed up as one of Harold Green's trademark skills in The Red Green Show. Seriously, it's like Commander Rick got ahold of Harold's Axe.
Ha! In this episode I'm looking at now, they're talking about Quantum Leap! There's also weekly Flash Gordon serials... that are completely random and start and stop without warning.
I'll post screenshots and audio clips (the slightly different opening music is notable) later, provided I don't have to run another instance. :P There's a good reason why season one went missing and doesn't show up in reruns.
