I don't know who's behind it, be it Steve Smith, S&S or the stations, but the lack of Red Green Show in Canada at the moment worries me.
About 6 years ago, you couldn't throw a stone without hitting the show. Global was playing seasons 4-6 after dinner, Comedy Network was playing seasons 1-6 several times a day and CBC was playing the seasons from 6 and onward around noon. It was a Red Green party!
Now, Comedy Network has pulled the evening/after dinner broadcasts of Red Green, replacing it with some lame game show called "You Bet Your Ass". That makes me very sad. On top of that, CBC only airs Red Green once a week, after school on Mondays.
Honestly, the episodes that are being rerun on Comedy are pushing 10 to 15 years old. The age can't be the full story, since Comedy still plays Kids In The Hall and Comedy At Club 54 during prime time and both are fairly old shows, even predating Red Green. If the age is such a factor, it's about time that Comedy picks up seasons 7-15. I honestly don't like the show as much after the "Harold Goes to College" storyline, but that's NINE seasons of New-To-Comedy-Network material.
Although, I wonder if there's some sort of funky rights issue with the later episodes. CBC seems to be sitting on them.
ANYWAY, I'm debating on if I should build some sort of Red Green fansite. There's still the Red Green FAQ, Bob's site, etc, but the big ones like the Virtual Possum Lodge are gone. The ones that are left are a very basic guide to everything related to the series in general. I think I might start with a detailed guide to the DVDs and the Books, since that's what I have access to and then move on from there if I feel like it.
I still have Signal Loss, so this new site can't completely fry all my time.
