Apr. 3rd, 2006 10:23 amAcorn Media is finally coming out with season sets for The Red Green Show. :)
Problem is they're starting with season 7! GAAAAAH! :(
There's only plans for season sets of 7-15 at the moment, which are the years that Red Green was produced with the CBC. Although, the CBC reruns episodes from season 6, even thought that was a Canwest Global season and makes the whole mess very confusing. In fact, the DVD releases seem to be one big headache.
There's no plans for seasons 1-6 to be released in boxed sets, which sucks at least for me since I kinda wanted the earlier seasons first; the CHCH season (1), the YTV/Baton seasons (2-3) and the Global seasons (4-6). I really don't care for many of the later seasons and I'll won't touch seasons 9 - 12 unless I really have to. I don't mind the latest ones (13 - 15), but a good episode from 2-5 is more entertaining than good chunks of the later seasons.
I understand that it probably would be been a bit tricky to do proper releases of seasons 4-6, since those were "The New Red Green Show" years and the packaging would be a little... odd for those not familiar with how the title of the show went. And episodes from seasons 1 and 3-6 are out on Stuffed and Mounted, which I own. Season 2 episodes aren't out on DVD at all, and that hurts my inner child and kicks her puppy. :P
I mean... fans have been asking for season sets for YEARS now, BUT WHY START WITH SEVEN?! There are also lots of other things that could be released sometime soon, such as the remaining two clip specials (Best of and Guide to Parenting) and the other big holiday special (Red Green Does New Years is an hour long, while the others are standard episodes and should be in the season sets). Oh, and maybe a widescreen release for Duct Tape Forever if that's possible or just toss out in book form the rumoured earlier scripts from the movie.
