teddog: (Somewhere I've never been)
I joined [livejournal.com profile] color_i_fic. Let's see what happens. :P

There's an odd little place I know of, that I've grown up with, called Military Road. It's a flakey little area, planned to be a massive tourist draw, but that never quite panned out. Stores come and go there, but a few odd ones remain.

And now they're taking more away.

I wish I had photos of John's Flaming Hearth. It makes me laugh everytime I see it; imagine a stereotypical 1960's/1970's "upscale" restaurant. The place is lost in time.

In fact, a lot of the road is lost in time.

There's an Outlet mall which screams the 90s. The lack of stores there now echos the change our culture underwent. Where else can you find boarded up storefronts that feel strangely comforting? The K-Bee outlet is still there. There's where my father and I used to buy our model rockets from. It doesn't carry those anymore, but they still have a fair selection of models at a fair price. The mall has a trading card machine with packs dating pack to 1995. Remind me to bring change to grab some Fox Kids cards next time. Ah, the days went cartoons were watchable.

Media Play is gone now, as I've ranted before. Another child of the 1990s media glut. I haven't found a replacement yet. There's Starstruck out at the Town Centre, which sells MST3K at a fair-ish price. I got Red Green there cheaper than most other places. Cinema 1 is back home; an employee there is a bot builder and has the only Crow T Robot model I've ever seen.

The educational Toy Store... whatever it was called... that's gone too. Replaced with a dry cleaners.

The Bowling Alley still exists, I think. Still trying to figure that one out. Jet Port, the place "on the hill" from the road, has a website that will burn your eyes. Makes me smile. There's very few times you can get away with that. One day, I'll build a site like that. Mighty Taco still stands and gives the middle finger to Taco Bell. I don't know if the hot dog place with the kiddie rides is still open. It looked like it last time. There's a Tim Hortons, though, which makes the whole place feel sureally like home.

I want to go downtown tonight, to the touristy area. I need a new Metropass, so I have to go to Davisville, the station of mystery. Wanna run through the Eaton Centre for the sake of doing it, one end to another. Maybe try to reach Bakka-Phoenix or Sanko. ::shrugs::
