I think I have a pet kitten.
Jun. 20th, 2005 05:12 pmStrangest thing happen today. I was bringing up some potted plants to the porch when I heard a howl from the bushes and this black/dark brown kitten jumped out and sat on my feet. Really. It was darn freaky. I played with the kitten a little, then went out shopping with mom for dinner.
The kitten seemed to have disappeared, but then I opened the door for Terry and this little kitten is back again on the doorstep. Terry told me he didn't know who the kitten belongs to, but it seems to have choosen me.
I took the cat out back to give him some food and water. The cat is too well kept and friendly to be a complete stray, but it was starving. My brothers scared him off for a while, but it came back and ran to me after they left.
It's pretty clear I'm stuck with a lost kitten. If the cat decides to hang around, I'm going to have to put some "Found Kitten" posters up. There's no collar, but it's too... you know... nice around people to be a stray. It's very scared of garden hoses and vacuum cleaners, though.
Because it came out of the "woods", I'm thinking of calling it a nature-based name for now. "Enrico" and "Leaf" were the first ones that popped into my head, but does anyone have any better ideas? It's a strange looking cat. It's a VERY dark tabby, with black and deep brown stripes and a small white blaze on its chest.
