My winning streak has ended.
To explain, since the new year, we've gotten a fair amount of snow. Some places on the dorm property are so deep that the snow goes up to my waist. I'm only 5'3", but I hail from the Toronto area, so this isn't normal for me.
There's a group of us in the dorms who go out to dinner together almost every night. Anne, Rachel, Mandy, Brodie, myself and anyone else that sometimes tags along (JP, Buggy, Crystal, etc). On the way back to the dorms, Rachel has made it a sport to try to throw us into the piles of snow by the walkways. Yep, those people-shaped holes along the trail were almost all created by us.
Rachel is insanly strong, since she's in Police Foundations and trains almost daily. She had yet to get me into a snowbank, which I credit to my height. I'm the shortest out of our little band of idiots and as such, can duck and run out from under the grasp of someone trying to toss me.
Tonight we were walking back; Anne left early and I just noticed that I was walking in front of Rachel. She went quiet, making me uneasy... until I felt someone grab me by my shoulders.
Panic took over and I went low, breaking Rachel's grip on me. I sped along the pathway, passing Mandy. Chancing a look back, I saw Rachel throw Mandy into the snow. I gave a triumphant laugh and jogged back to the dorm. Once in, I stopped by the washroom and waited by the door to our hallway for Mandy to come. We're roomies, so I figured, "What the heck, I might as well wait for her."
Unfortunately for me, Mandy and Rachel took this as a prefect moment to grab me. I was standing in a corner and once they got hold on my arms I couldn't open the hallway door and bolt. The tile floor was soaked and try as I might, I couldn't get a grip on it. It wasn't too hard to figure out that I was fighting a losing battle.
At this point I figured "I can wait until they pull me outside, then break and make a run for it". Even if I got away inside, there would be nowhere to run. So I pretended to give in, allowing Rachel to pull me outside behind the dorm.
Once outside, I tried to throw Rachel off. I got my arm free, but not my jacket and Mandy was still holding on like a pitbull. Darn it. I shoved my arm back in my sleeve and plotted quickly for another way to get away while Mandy and Rachel dragged me to the closest snow bank. The easiest solution suddenly occured to me.
I waited until they tossed me and put all my strength and energy into keeping my balance. I hit the snow and was still standing. WHOOO... for now.
Mandy and Rachel were not pleased with this and both rushed me at once. I decided to follow Rachel more closely than Mandy. Looking back, this wasn't smart. I jumped out of Rachel's reach and figured that I could easily clear Mandy. As much as I love Mandy, I'll have to admit she's fairly slow in a fight. HOWEVER, when I landed, I shuffled my foot slightly and didn't realise that Mandy's foot was right behind mine.
My balance wasn't fully back yet and I tripped backwards and disappeared into a pile of snow.
And thus I finally got thrown into a snow bank and got snow in places where snow shouldn't go. At least I didn't go down without a fight.
