Oct. 29th, 2004 01:26 pmWent to Hill City yesterday and got Katie's Christmas prezzie (hint: It's got an Enrico in it and it's not Gruen... although we've joked that it could be. ^_^). I also picked up the newest issue of Newtype USA because of a Fullmetal Alchemist article and was tempted to pick up a Doctor Who calendar, but I wanted to stay around $30. I couldn't find any copies of the Galaxy Angel manga. I know Katie has seen it, but I've have not luck. Yes... I have a passing interest in Galaxy Angel. I blame it on Normad. He's such a cute AI!
We met Mandy's friends who were in town and staying at the Prince Arthur Motel and went out to dinner at McDonalds. Mickey D's no longer has veggie burgers. WTF? That was the only "meal" I could stomache there. I ended up having a medium fries, one of those yogurt cup thingies and a small pop. Any more and I'd be ill. The fries nuked my system bad enough.
Side note: Cumberland theaters are the cheesiest theaters ever! They're so 1970s/1980s. I didn't go in, but what I could see from the outside was funky enough.
I have my results for my Networking midterm. I got a 69.9% or something, which is a 70% for all I care. The highest mark is a 76% and the lowest is 40%, so I didn't do too bad for myself. I'm tied for 3rd highest mark in the class... but it leaves me kinda hollow. I'm pulling high 80s and 90s in every other class and I actually, you know, STUDIED for my networking class for a week in advance and 70% is the highest I could manage. It doesn't help that the teacher talks behind our backs about how stupid we are when it comes to networking. As Warran said, "Let's put Irwin in front of Illustrator and see how fast he can do a mesh colouring. Then ask him if it's bad that it takes us 3 hours to complete a lab." The fact that it would take 25 mintues to complete that last lab is BS, since that's how long it took us to format and copy the disks and install the Operating System. We're only humans and this is the first networking course some of us ever had.
I've got good standing with the rest of the teachers, so I'm not too scared. It's just one B, but I've had solid As until now. If I bust my butt to raise my mark, I should be able to prevent any major damage to my GPA.
Warran found my website last night looking up "hot new media" (or something like that). He told me it was cool because he's seen very few sites with a mainly orange layout. Praise makes me happy!
