Da Hike in REVIEW!
Oct. 24th, 2004 12:51 amAKA How I almost got jumped and lived to tell the tale! Go me!
Okayies, for the last two nights I've been working my tail off running a haunted hike for the college res.
Friday night sucked hard. One of the scenes earlier on had a large fire. We told the people around the area what we were doing, so you think that they should have remembered what we were doing. But NOOOO... some couple called the fire department and reported a large fire. A fire truck came and the fire fighters watched the scene, laughed and told us everything was cool.
20 minutes later the same people called the police and told them that there was a house party going on down the street. WTF? The police came, watched the hike scene, laughed and left.
Heaven help if anyone down the road needed the police or fire departments later that night, because they weren't coming back out there.
It also rained a ton. Probably the biggest storm since I came back for school. I was out in the cold and rain for easily an hour, including pulling down the sets for the night. Speaking of pulling down sets, ours kept falling down and we had to tape it to trees.
Saturday night it looked like it was going to rain, but it thankfully didn't. The ground was still soaked and one of the complaints the cast got last night was there wasn't enough random scares. So, Tom pulls over Pascal (the tech for scene 8) and myself (the tech for scene 9), throws us a couple of bankets to use as robes and tells us to pop out of the woods to scare people. Right. So we ran around randomly screaming nonsense. It was fun, but because the guides didn't know what was going on, they were pissed.
I can't make anyone happy. >:(
The worse part was right after the third group left. Pascal was rolling on the grass laughing and these two guys walked down the trail beside us and stop. They looked at us and asked us what we were doing. Pascal told them we were playing in the woods and the guys left. We just looked at each other and said "Okay..." and brushed it off. Pascal then had to run a prop to scene 7 and Tom came down to talk to me. We were on the main trail and I noticed something in the bushes. The two guys who were walking past us earlier came out of the woods right were Pascal and me had been a few minutes earlier and lurked around.
My thoughts: HOLY CRAP! THEY WANTED TO JUMP US!
It should be noted that at least 3 women were raped on this same trail last fall. Pascal went AWOL for group 4, so I had to do my thing on my own. I was probably more scared than the group. After scene 8 cleared, I ran down to the cast there and waited until scene 7 went radio-silent again, the cue for our end to reload.
My roomie was on the trail and didn't realize it was me. She and Anne didn't believe it until I did the voice. Freaky.
Random Quote Time!
"Loud sounds make me crazy!" - one of Pascal's insane comments
"We're ENFPs. The P is for PENIS!" - Alex on our Myers-Briggs catagory.
"You did WHAT with WHO for HOW MANY COOKIES?" - One of roomie Amanda's catch phrases.
