teddog: (Wheee!)
Last night we had a wicked storm come through. I haven't seen one that bad in ages.

It started just after 3pm as a thunderstorm. And then the winds and hail came.

When I saw the hail, I ran out, grabbed a handful of hail pellets, then ran up to Katie's room and threw it at her. She was not impressed. Then Jen and her friend from school showed up. They had been staying late for band pratice and were walking home when the storm blew in. The two were totally soaked and Jen's friend had to borrow some of our clothes while her's dried.

So, Jen and friends camped out in their room watching SailorStars while I got stuck cooking dinner. My dog was so freaked out from the storm that he kept hiding behind me, causing me to trip over him repeatedly.

I'm not sure when, but at some point when I was cooking, Jen came running downstairs in a blind panic and pulled mom upstairs. I later found out that the screen around the fan unit in the girls' room blew out, the fan went flying and Jen's bed got very wet.

At this point dad came home. He had been over in Dundas running a package to the printers and got caught in a flash flood that happened. He nearly didn't make it home.

The worst part of the storm ended around... I can't remember. It was after dinner. By the time I was out delivering newspapers this morning, a lot of the roads had already dried up. After all the rain and flooding yesterday, that was pretty freaky.

I hope it didn't completely flood out Cootes, because I'm helping a high school science class do soil and water sampling there on Friday.
