Lookit Me!
May. 31st, 2004 07:19 pmNormal level Neoquest trophy!

I now have one of those. Is that not spiffy? Last Friday I sat down and figured "Might as well work towards that". I thought I had a current game going on, but it turns out I didn't, so I had to start from fresh.
I finished the game tonight right before dinner. It wasn't a really hard game by any great length of imagination, just very tedious. Most of the game is spent going around and leveling up so your character is strong enough to fight the monsters in the next area. This is unlike Neoquest 2, where I haven't had to that very often thus far (I just reached chapter 3 in that game on Friday). Because of the boring leveling up process, I really doubt I'll replay the game on Evil or Insane. It's just too dry for me.
Granted, one of the major reasons I decided to fight through Neoquest now was because the game is so dated by today's standards. Compared to the sequel's art, combat system and storyline, the original is very weak. The flash movie at the end is laughable. The cheesiness amused me, although the ending is depressing. Your character is trapped in the Two Rings mountian range forever, even though all the evil in the world is gone.
Of course, at the time it was released it was quite an impressive online RPG game. This was back in 2001. Geez, this game came out when I was in high school. At the time, it was such as stress on Neopets' servers that you could only play the game during certain hours, which for me happened to be during the late evening and early morning.
The servers were also painfully slow. I remember it took several days to clear the first quest in the caves back when the game was first released. Why? Waiting for the page to load. And I was on DSL!
But... I finally finished it now. I'm in a good mood and make a nice amount of points from clearing the game, so if peeps I know want certain things within reason on Neopets, I'll be willing to pick them up. Katie and Jen are already down for stuff. Jen wants a plushie and Katie wants her sanity back.
