From MST3Kinfo.com:
"CRAWLING HAND" STAR ARRESTED, EXTRADITION EXPECTED
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--Roger Lawrence "Rod Lauren" Strunk, best known to MSTies for his role as teen Paul Lawrence, the teen who falls under the influence of the title character in episode 106- THE CRAWLING HAND, was arrested May 13 by U.S. marshals, executing an arrest warrant issued by the government of the Philippines. On May 21, a U.S. District Court here rejected his bail petition, and so he will remain in detention at the Sacramento County Jail.

Observers now expect that he will be extradited by the U.S. to face renewed charges that he was the mastermind behind the murder of his wife, a popular Filipina actress. Strunk's wife, Nida Blanca (whose real name was Dorothy Jones), was found stabbed to death in her car Nov. 6, 2001, in parking lot near a building she frequented. Philippine officials have been given 60 days (which began on May 13, the day of Strunk's arrest) to present official extradition papers to U.S. Justice Dept. officials. Those papers have been drawn up, but work is being done now to translate them into English.

Strunk has repeatedly denied any involvement with the Blanca's murder. "It seems to be a plot against me," he declared in a TV interview earlier this year. "Being a husband, I was a target. I have nothing to do with this. I couldn't think of such a thing. I'm not clever enough."

Strunk first met Blanca in 1964; the two were married in 1981 and accounts in the Philippine press described their marriage as stormy, with claims that the two were arguing regularly over money before she was killed. Philippine officials were unable to implicate Strunk in the months following the murder, and permitted him to return to the U.S. in January. He had been living with his sisters in Tracy, Calif., about 50 miles east of San Francisco.

Following his departure from the country, however, prosecutors say their case has strengthened. They say they have proof Strunk hired a man, Philip Medel, to kill his wife. Medel at one point admitted to killing Blanca, but later recanted his confession, saying he had been tortured into confessing by authorities. Medel's murder trial is already under way, he recently entered a plea of "not guilty."

The hand from space made him do it!
