They had a used copy of The Curse of Monkey Island, but it was Windoze only. ::sniff::

I don't think there was a Mac port of CMI anyway. I looked for Mac copies of DOTT and NES copies of MM and Mac ports of anything else by Lucasarts, but there was nothing.

I really want to get into the Monkey Island series. Well, kinda. I've lurkered around many MI sites and boards and I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good:
Some MI fans are AMAZING artists. Probably the best out of any Lucas-Empire fandom. MI has two styles going for it: the semi-realistic style from the early games and the cartoonly style from later games. Both are used often by artists.

The Bad:
Some Monkey Island gamers are not the sharpest knives in Lucas-fandom. They also tend to have lots Mary Sues, most of which are related to main characters.

The Ugly:
I'm a Maniac Mansion series fan. Some unwritten rule says the two fandoms cannot be friends.

I don't understand it, since both series are what they are today because of each other: SCUMM used in the first three Monkey Island games was originally created for Maniac Mansion and the success of The Secret of Monkey Island led to Maniac Masion: Day of the Tentacle. While most MI fans claim to hate the MM game series, many list DOTT as their favorite game and want a sequel to it (Side note: however, most of their sequel ideas forget to factor in that because of what Bernie and his roommates in the world of yesterday, DOTT never actually happened. I want a prequel to explain the history of the meteor and the Meteor Police before Maniac Mansion. Or a game showing what really happened during the first game, since according to DOTT the game we currently have is LucasArt's twist on the events from that night and was probably based on the meteor's biography. There's several plotholes in the series that still need answers.)

BUT ANYWAY...

EB does have a large collection of Atari games for five bucks each. I was thinking about digging out our old system and seeing if it still works. I'll do that later, since now I'm sneezing up blood and that's never a good thing.

In other news, DOTTcom got fixed! Hooray! Now I can link it.
