I finally beat Sonic Adventure ("Directors Cut" version for the Game Cube) on my own!
You see, the last time we rented it, James beat most of it. The problem with him beating almost all of the game is that I missed out on huge chunks of the plot. The only storyline I saw in full was Amy's because James refused to play her.
I kinda stopped following Sonic back in grade seven, which was about the point in time when the dry period of Sonic games happened. After Sonic 3/ and Knuckles, there were no real, solid, new platformer games in the series for years. The Saturn console lacked a major Sonic game. Instead, we got Sonic R, a racing game, and Sonic Jam, which was collection of all the major Genesis games. And then Sonic Adventure came to save us all... or something. Sonic Adventure 2 ("Battle" version) was my first modern Sonic game, since I never owned a Dreamcast. I still remember renting the Game Cube and SA2:B. I was interested in seeing what became of the series and it was quite different from how I remembered it... but I liked it. However, I never did like Shadow. To this day he still annoys me.
BUT ANYWAY, I missed out on Sonic Adventure and wondered what all the fuss was about. Now that I played the game, I think I understand. At least in part. It's not the greatest plot ever told and I felt that other sides of Sonic canon, namely the Archie comics, have done better plots. E-102 and Tails' stories are probably the better of the bunch, but some like Knuckles' don't really go anywhere.
Still a fun game worth playing once, even if it's 6 years old.
