Ed the Sock is cutting his ties with CITY-TV

Not very shocking, given the state of what used to be CHUM-City. Everytime I walk by the old building and see Speaker's Corner gone, part of me dies inside.

However, anything "good" (this is debatable) about the old CITY-TV is long dead, never to return. I saw some of the early episodes of Ed's Night Party, back when Humble Howard was the co-host and they had this strange mailman as a recurring character. I honestly stopped following it when the show became overly sexual in nature, instead following Ed's VJ gig on MuchMusic. Now, THOSE were good times! I watched Ed's Big Wham Bam a lot, although I could swear that there was another show before that. And Fromage was always good, but I never saw earlier specials with Christopher Ward.

You know, I figured it would be a cold day in Hell before I started longing for the late 1990s and early 2000s, but I do miss the very last episode of Ed's Big Wham Bam. It was a two hour show and in the last episode, the focus was completely on the strangest music videos that MuchMusic had on hand. It was probably tame compared to MuchMusic's early years, but I enjoyed how surreal it was. Now, MuchMusic is clogged with crap like America's Best Dance Crew, Punk'd and Video On Trial. Okay, I'm going to shut up now, because I could rant for hours on how bad Video On Trial ALONE is.

So. Yeah. Not sure what to think, because I couldn't really stand the Night Party in the end. Ed's still with Much (now owned by our friends at Bell), but only online.

In better news, more Prisoners of Gravity is forthcoming. I originally intended to convert the episode clips overnight, but I forgot to put it on before going to sleep. So, there's stuff converting NOW, but that means it won't be up until late tonight.

Bah! Ed was ruined by Much and City! Ruined! The REAL Ed was on Rogers local cable access, with the creepy bald guy who hardly ever talked. ;)

I never saw the Rogers episodes. The earliest I saw was the early City episodes.

Creepy bald guy? I wonder if that's the mailman I'm thinking of. He was bald and didn't talk that much. Looked to be in his 40. Ring a bell?

That sounds about right!

A City without Ed is like a day without a creepy guy in a raincoat.

In other words, your average day in Toronto.
