Fan Expo and Stuff

Is anyone else going to Fan Expo? It's my first time and I'm confused by the ticketing system.

I want to get a Deluxe Pass, but when I go to the TicketMaster site, there's no simple "Fan Expo" pass. They're all branded to the seperate conventions, which seems really silly. Does it matter which convention pass I buy?

Only one episode went up yesterday. I forgot I had to dup 8 DVDs to mail out today and while I didn't run a full Tempest Keep instance, I was invited in to help fight the final boss of The Arcatraz, Harbinger Skyriss.

I was a bit worried because I'm still new to these high instances, but we seemed to do fine. One wipe on the thrid mini boss, the Blackwing Drakonaar, but on our second time through we cleared it all the way through. The mini bosses are boring, but Harbinger Skyriss was quite fun. The loot items were Hood of Oblivion and Sigil-Laced Boots. The mage in the group got the boots and the hood was disenchanted into a void crystal (which in itself was a 0.5% chance), which I won the roll for. I have no idea what to do with it other than sell it.

I looked at the website and the tickets seem confusing, but only select tickets I think get you into all four. That's fine to me as I'd only really be interested in Sci-Fi and Gaming, maybe Anime and definitely not Horror.

Whether we will be going is still up in the air.

Turns out that I had brushed shoulders before with one of the heads of the gaming expo a while back. He cleared it up for me.

It doesn't matter what brand pass you buy for us - it works for all five conventions. The type of pass matters in if you have a deluxe or a basic pass. A deluxe pass works for ALL the deluxe pass events held on that day. From what I could figure from his comments, the branding exists as a way to judge the interest in each expo, as flawed as it is.

Friend of mine, [livejournal.com profile] thebitterguy, is the organizer for the Gaming Expo portion. He may be able to help you out with which tickets work for what.
