Turns out Blizzard;s big announcement was StarCraft II, so more rednecks iiiiinnn spaaaaace!

Big rumour was that Blizz was going to make a "World of StarCraft", but this doesn't appear to be the case; rather, Warcraft's switch from RTS to MMO was probably to expand their market reach, with Warcraft being their MMO, StarCraft as the RTS and Diablo as the action/RPG. I'm not really a big RTS fan (the only RTS game I own is Star Fox Assult and it's not complex at all), so I'm kinda "Eh" on the whole thing.

I'm pleased as I was worried Blizzard was going all MMO and I had played all their RTS's and rather enjoyed them.

I'm glad it's not another MMO, because that would mean Blizzard would be forced into juggling two MMOs.

Except now we have all these "OMG! StarCraft 2 is gonna kill WoW!" posts in the forums, but the forums were a pit to begin with.

Hardly. RTS =/= MMO. I'm quite grateful they chose to release this dispite the fact it will never come close to success that they've had with WoW. Not as much appeal or staying power.
