They say he is alive. That is incorrect. Maybe the card is based on Leeroy prior to his death, but he did die in the Spire along with the rest of the PALS 4 LIFE guild.
I think it's like comic books. Or Buffy. Or X-Files. No one is dead until you see a body and even then, the odds that they'll come back are stacked in their favour.
