I spent the better part of the evening doing my part to combat family drama and hijacking mom's computer so that Spence and I could twink out his mage somewhat.

Now, Warcraft twinks =/= your standard RP twinks. It just means getting the kid better than decent gear. Spence only runs instances with my guild (all friends and family) and the resellers market for gear on our server is very out of wack, so he tends to be rather under geared for his level. Given that I am not a healing class, nor a tanking class, this makes things slightly complex. The good gear binds to a character on pickup, so he physically needs to be in a instance with me and helping me kill these monsters.

We ran Scarlet Monastery and then I was feeling ballsy so we ran Razorfen Downs after. The loot at the end was mixed.

Illusionary Rod - This is the main reason I wanted to run the instance, because Spence had a crappy staff. Doan is THE caster loot piƱata in Scarlet Monastery and I was very pleased to see it drop. Spence seems happy with it too.
Robe of Doan - Priest robes. Spence likes them only because they look like Doan's robes and the kid was excited to face a major boss that was also a mage.
Triune Amulet - ::siiiiigh:: Okay. It's a decent neck piece, but we were gunning for Whitemane's Chapeau.
Deathmage Sash - The only reason I tried for it was that Kate pointed it out and said "Good belt, it's worth a shot".

Mordresh Fire Eye, the boss that gave us a belt, is a great fight. I had never done Razorfen Downs, so Spence and I didn't know what to think when we stumbled upon him and his little "concert".

What annoyed me, though, was that while we got a nice round of loot from the mini bosses, the main bosses - the ones we had to work hard to keep alive through - didn't drop their big prizes. We didn't get Whitemane's Chapeau from Whitemane and we didn't get the Robes of the Lich from Amnennar the Coldbringer. And yeah, I realize that the robes are more warlock material (Merd was wearing them in her 40s), but we're at a loss as to what chest piece a mage can pick up at an instance and at his level. All the cloth appears to be priest or warlock.
