I finally saw the Hellsing OAV trailer.
ANIMATED PIP! YAY!
And the Major, and the Nazi and, from the looks of things, we're going to see The Dandy too.
And Seras... OMG. Despite her overly... large assets, I happen to like her a lot in the manga. More me liking female characters with power. I believe the anime downplayed this a lot, but in the manga she starts out fairly insecure, but later becomes very powerful in her own right. Look at her weapon! Most of the characters carry guns, but her weapon, Harkonnen, is a cannon. The animated Harkonnen II in the trailer looks so badass! I'm in awe of the thing; I hate hand guns, but love heavy weaponary. I wanna cannon like that.
Hopefully, we'll get to see more of the wacky manga cast, like Yumiko. I dunno, Tas, but you might like her. She's a Japanese nun with personality issues. She doesn't appear a lot in the manga, since she's from "Crossfire", a brief series that takes place before Hellsing. It's the same world, though. Minor character in Hellsing, major in Crossfire.
I do wonder how this OAV is going to work. Is it going to take over from where the anime ended (I hope not. XP ) or reboot the series and start over? I don't really see the former happening, because too much of the manga plot was messed up in the anime plot. The misadventure of the Valentine brothers, for example, has a couple of key points missing in the anime.
