Where does the magic go in fandoms?

Have you ever loved something, only to feel later that it might be time to move on?

I'm feeling that way about The Red Green Show. I love it, but I don't. It has been one of my core fandoms for about 11 years, but I'm starting to think that my time in the fandom is up.

I'm a rarity in the Red Green groups, an old timer that remembers how it was at CHCH. Heck, I saw the original Possum Lodge set. I was there when the show went to limbo, moved to CTV stations, then YTV, then Global, then The Comedy Network and then CBC, where it died.

I love CBC, but they killed Red Green. They killed almost everything I loved about the show, made it too mainstream, but I stayed. I toughed out Rick and Pat leaving the show and the movie, but now I don't know.

I took down my Jack Davidson page. Only I remember him, a character from the first season. No one cares about the past... I'm from the past. Maybe it's time for me to be forgotten in the fandom. The fandom hasn't really done that much anyway. Very little fanfic, most of it badly written SI fics that have been long lost.

But then, I felt this way about MST3K over the summer, and now I'm back in there... the little there is, at least.
