Translation Madness.

Link of the day: Deux Ex Machina ALIVE!. An attempt to recreate the Deux Ex Machina (a massive MST3K link archive).

I went to Hill City Comics with my friends again. Got me Volume One of Azumanga Daioh and the January issue of Newtype... because it had Fullmetal Alchemist in it.... and when I opened it in the car I discovered it had MILITARY INFORMATION! Whooooo! Happy fangirl is me!

Couple of odd things I noticed, though:

- Kain's last name is "Fuery" in English, unless that was a typo (Time to fix my fansite crap... Find and Replace is your friend!). Fan translations had it as Fury, Fuery, Ferri and Huey (WTF?), among others. I can live with "Fuery". It still doesn't quite work, because the military group is supposed to be named after aircraft and while there is a Fury fighter plane, there's nothing for Fuery.

- Same issue with Farman becoming Falman. However, I knew about this one from episode 5 already. Farman is a name with a history in aircraft and Falman isn't. Oh, and his first name is Vato, which is a million times better than Watteau. Funky spelling crap.

- Fuery's rank is a Master Sergeant now? Darn it, they demoted one of my favorite characters. Fuery is supposed to be a Sergeant Major. *whine whine whine*

- They kept Bradley's rank as Fuhrer. I was scared that it who be changed because of the connections to the word.
